Everything you need to know about Badnaam Band


    Not much opportunities lie in Pakistan to bring forth talented artists, now Pepsi took a great initiative to hunt such artists. Battle of the bands, a reality TV series, is revived by Pepsi with the name of ‘Pepsi: Battle of the bands’. The new season of show had extremely talented judges in auditions round; a very handsome Fawad Khan, Music Icon Meesha Shafi and an amazing singer Farooq Ahmed. After a rough & tough competition, Judges selected cluster of 8 talented bands in the top 8 out of 500 entries.

    The Badnaam boys

    Badnaam is a trio of exceptionally talented men, Ahmed Jilani, Muhammad Ahsan and Rahim Shehbaz. Ahmed Jilani, lead vocalist of Badnaam, is an Information Technology Head in a multi-national company. Muhammad Ahsan aka Lala Ahsan, band’s drummer, is a graduate in textile design from National College of Arts (NCA). Rahim Shehbaz aka sunny, band’s bassist, left working for a law firm to pursue career as interior designer. Jilani came across with the advertisement of Battle of bands and applied for it without proper discussion with members. They participated in the show just for adventure and “Jahaz ki Sair” but turned out as one of the top bands later.

    Badnaam’s journey

    Badnaam never went in the danger zone. They always came out as a shiny talented band with their outstanding performances. They never feared of losing and judges loved their passion of playing music. Fawad said some appreciating remarks for their passion, in the audition’s round “Yeh jo ap itni badtameezi sy bajaty hain, mujhy bohat pasand hai”. They did justice with their instruments and were consistent throughout their journey of battle. They were awarded with the sizzling and wonderful titles of “The Power House” and “Wall of sound”.

    In the first round, they outstandingly sung iconic folk song “Kala Jora Paa”. In top 6 knockout round, they chose original song “Khawja Ki Deewani” for which they had mixed reviews from judges. In the next knockout round, they played “Bissmillah Karan” which was one of the best songs performed on by them and brought them in the competition as well. In the final episode, they came up with a mash up song and gave “TAKAR KA MUQABLA” to opponent band, Kashmir. Both bands performed their best but Kashmir got more talent and better luck, leaving Badnaam as runner up.

    During the journey of Battle of the Bands, Badnaam boys received a lot of appreciation that heightened their passion. Their defeat hasn’t disappointed them, but make them more enthusiastic to keep playing music in the future. Badnaam!
