KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh announced the arrest of a leader of the Lyari gang war and former chief of proscribed Peoples Amn Committee (PAC), Uzair Baloch, in a targeted operation from the outskirts of Karachi on Saturday.
According to the reports, Baloch was arrested on outskirts of Karachi while attempting to enter the city.
The main character of Lyari gang war is facing over 20 cases of murders, kidnappings, extortion and terrorism.
Following the arrest, police and Rangers have been put on high alert, with enhanced patrolling in Lyari in the wake of any possible reaction.
It is pertinent to mention here that after fleeing from Pakistan, Baloch was arrested on December 28, 2014 by Interpol at Dubai airport where he arrived from Muscat carrying a counterfeit Iranian passport.
Following court proceedings in Dubai, the accused was handed over to Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in February 2015.
