MQM in critical situation just few days before Local Bodies’ Election


Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is facing crisis just few days before Local Bodies Election. The para military forces and Rangers conducted raids on party offices and arrested the MQM workers and activists. The party carried out rallies against these arrests and termed it as “Injustice” to them as it claimed that party workers were arrested when they were busy in elections’ preparations.

Sources told that the party leader Farooq Sattar addressed to a protest rally carried out in the city today and claimed that “4,000 MQM workers were arrested while 5,000 raids were conducted on our offices.” According to him, the party has been the victim of state terrorism since last two years. He said “MQM is a political party and will talk about politics wherever and whenever it gets a chance.”

The MQM leader further said that “Today, You witnessed a million march, on December 5 (election day) there will be a billion march.”

During the protest rally, police interrupted and stopped the protestors to move towards the Red Zone. In response to this interruption, the rally attendants staged a sit-in at Numaish Chowrangi. The rally started from Liaquatabad and was moving towards Rangers Headquarters near Sindh Assembly but police stopped them and said that they will not allow them to enter sensitive area where Rangers Headquarters locates near Governor House, Chief Minister House and other important buildings too.

The local bodies’ elections are scheduled for 5th December 2015 and the security agencies are arresting them. The party lawmakers decided to surrender and viewed that surrender is the last and option now in such situation. The party announced that after local body polls, the party leaders and workers will present themselves before security agencies.
