Ranbir Kapoor has finally stood up to defend Mahira Khan against trolls and says both smoking and hate are injurious to health. Both were seen smoking in New York City and several pictures of that scene went viral on social media. Many criticized Mahira for smoking a cigarette and her clothing style. Celebrities from both sides came out to support and defend Mahira Khan.
Ranbir Kapoor spoke up to support the actor and said that, “Both smoking and hate are injurious to health”. He added that “I’ve gotten to know Mahira in a personal capacity over the last few months. She is somebody who I admire and respect, for her achievements and even more for the person she is. It is very unfair the way she is being judged and spoken about. What is also sad is the inequality in judgment just because she is a woman. I request you to stop the negativity and move on with your beautiful god gifted lives.”
His father Rishi Kapoor also answered to the trolls and rumours of his son Ranbir dating Mahira Khan. He said, “If they were dating or seeing each other, wouldn’t people in Mumbai know? These rumours are only dumb.”
Rishi Kapoor was contacted by Indian media for which he got angry initially but later told that “I only saw them on Twitter, not on Instagram or Facebook because I am only on Twitter. It’s not that I saw these pictures before or I know anything about this already. You see, Ranbir is a young star, he is unmarried, he’s a bachelor. He can meet anybody whoever he wants to, and if people are going to invade his privacy, it’s not done. And I can’t say anything about all this because he’s a young man and he has the choice of meeting any girl.”
Parineeti Chopra also stood up and asked if it was fair to troll a woman for smoking and wearing a short. She expressed her concern that how social media makes such things a bigger deal and said, “I mean, it’s not to do with our film, but I think ya. I would just like to say one line. I don’t want to answer your question. But ya, it is quite unfair, everybody knows it is unfair, and it will stop. Today because of social media, everything becomes too big a deal.”
